Did someone say BBQ? A new food truck beckons

Competition between food trucks on campus has gone beyond the grease trucks-Knight Wagon battle since Oink and Moo BBQ put up shop Tuesday, April 1, on Busch Campus.

The truck is run by Sean Parker and Josh Sacks, themselves both Rutgers graduates. The company is based out of Somerset, New Jersey, and finally acquired a Piscataway mobile vendor permit allowing them on campus after months of trying.

The food truck offers a very different flavor from the grease trucks that have until now largely dominated the campus.

“I’ve eaten so many times from the grease trucks when I was here. I can’t say anything bad about them, but we’re different. The grease trucks offer the same food, and ours is more specialized. We offer gourmet barbeque at a reasonable price. It’s all homemade too. The meat is smoked for 14 hours,” said Parker.

According to Parker, the idea to start the food truck came from the owners’ own love of barbecue, as well as from them having worked in restaurants and catering previously.

The food truck will stay on campus for at least a year, and can be found on either Livingston or Busch campus, Monday through Friday. While they plan on parking near the Allison Road Classrooms and the Livignston Student Center, interested patrons can find its location on its Twitter page, and encourages people to check out their Facebook and website as well.
